Due to heavy rainfall brought by tropical storm “Paeng” last week, the original date of ABANSE NEGRENSE Softball Tournament 2022 opening from October 29 in Blumentritt, Murcia has been cancelled by the Provincial Sports Office (PSO) and moved to a new date this Sunday, November 6.
Earlier news release indicates that Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson including PSO Head Anthony Carlo Agustin, Murcia Mayor Gerardo Rojas, VM Johnny Reosura, Murcia SB Members, and other local officials will attend the opening ceremony.
There will be three major categories in the softball tournament – majors (12-under or ages 11-12), juniors (14-under or ages 13-14) and seniors. The participating teams for the softball tournament are the following: Majors (12-under/11-12) – Silay City, Murcia, Bacolod City-ETCS; Juniors (14-under/13-14) – Silay City, Murcia, Bacolod City–BCNHS; Seniors (School) – NOHS, BCNHS; and Seniors (LGU) – Escalante City, La Carlota City, Bacolod City, Silay City, Talisay City, Murcia.
The upcoming softball tourney is part of the ABANSE NEGRENSE grassroots sports development programs initiated by Gov. Lacson, with the assistance of Mr. Agustin. Through these projects, they are hoping to develop the skills of our potential players in preparation for much bigger leagues like the Little League World Series in the future.
