Bacolod City Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya was elected as a member of the prestigious Commission on Appointments on Wednesday, August 3.
Gasataya was among the 10 initially elected members of the Commission as moved by House Majority Leader Manuel Jose “Mannix” Dalipe during a regular session of the House of Representatives.
“It is my honor to be elected to the Commission on Appointments. I assume this position with only the welfare of our country and the Filipino people in mind,” the solon said.
Gasataya added that he is grateful to House Speaker Martin Romualdez, the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez and his local party Team Asenso, and to all his supporters for entrusting the position to him.
The Commission on Appointments is a constitutional body composed of members the House of Representatives and the Senate with the power to approve or disapprove appointments made by the President, the confirmation of which is required by the constitution.
