He is a pride of Bacolod City & Negros Occidental, and the most qualified among all senators for having served both the House & the Senate in a span of more than 2 decades. He also have the perfect attendance as a legislator, earning the monicker of “Trabahador ng Senado”.
Aside from being a veteran legislator (20 yrs as congressman & senator), Mr. Clean Energy (author of Biofuels Act, etc.), Spice Boys member, a sportsman, etc., I have personally knew him to be the amiable, charming, friendly & approachable kind of a public servant.
However, with all the kind and numerous description of him, this is just how i knew him. It was in his first year in his first term, or 24 years ago that i had met him. Gin imbitar ko sya as inducting officer of all the 38 KK Youth Organizations Mass Induction in Brgy Barangay Singcang Airport. When i invited him, he then accepted it. Later i knew nga hambal nya, after so many years, gusto ya balikan ang palangga nya nga siudad sang Bacolod.
When he was here in 1998, after the mass induction, digto kami sa dunkin donut sa Lopues San Sebastian sa tungang gab-i nangape samtang nagapamirma sya sang sobra 500 ka Oath of Office! Wala gid ere klase tawo, biskan diin pwede lang sya katambay.
The next day, nag kadto kami sa iya mga paryente sa Brgy 39, and we also went to their old house, now known as Bar 21. From then on, I always accompany him once he is in Bacolod or Negros. Then as they say, the rest is history.
As a friend, supporter, a fellow Bacolodnon & Negrosanon, let us all take this moment to congratulate our very own, Senate President Senator Migz Zubiri!!!!
He will be for sure, an asset & big help to Bacolod City & Negros Occidental for having him their as Senate President!
